Bulbul

Bulbul ("we", "us", "the app") is a study app that helps you prepare for the TOEFL and IELTS exams. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Bulbul, you agree to this policy.
Account information (optional). You can use Bulbul as a guest with no account. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password, which is stored only in a securely hashed form — we never store your actual password. An account lets you sign in and keep your progress across sessions.
Content you submit for feedback. To give you AI feedback, the app sends the relevant content to our AI provider: your written answers, your spoken answers (audio and its transcript), and any photo you take of a practice question. This content is processed to generate your feedback for that request; photos and audio are not stored on our servers after processing.
Practice and progress data. Your answers, scores, streaks and study progress are saved so the app can show your results. In guest mode this stays on your device; with an account it is stored in our database so it can sync.
Device and usage data. The app sends a device identifier that we use only to apply fair daily usage limits, and we keep basic logs of how many AI requests are made and their cost. This is used to run the service reliably and to prevent abuse — it is not used to track you across other apps or services.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
We share information only with the providers that make the app work, and only for that purpose:
If you have an account, your data is kept while the account exists. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. In guest mode, your data lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app or clear its data.
Passwords are stored in hashed form, and data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Bulbul is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
Bulbul is an independent study app and is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or officially connected to Educational Testing Service (ETS), the British Council, IDP Education, or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. TOEFL is a registered trademark of ETS. IELTS is a registered trademark of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. These names are used only to describe the exams Bulbul helps you prepare for.
